| Summary | 0000516: LED Scenario change from SKB | ||||
| Description | SKB changed their LED Scenario. They would like to use LED colors, White, Orange and Green. So I updated scenario file. Please check it and update it I attached 1. LED_Button_Scenario_02.pptx : Please refer changed LED Scenario (p4) 2. TVSystemService_SKB_FOX_HAL_template_20190226.tar.gz : TV Storm released HAL template that applied LED scenario Change 3. TVSystemService_SKB_FOX_JNIDOC_20190226.tar.gz : TV Storm released JNI document that applied LED scenario Change 4. tvsystemservicetest-debug.apk : Test application of TV Storm HAL function | ||||

Hi Dixon, Please check scenario file first. |
Based on the current RGB LED, 1. We can have "white color" if we turn on the R & G & B at the same time. But we cannot have a white color with blinking because there will be out of synchronization. 2. We cannot have "orange color" because R + G will be yellow. Please help to confirm the LED color with SKB. If they insist "Green", "White", and "Orange", we have to survey new LED material. |
We checked it with Mr. Kerwin today. I understand Eagle can produce Orange. So I will ask to SKB to change orage to yellow. And on Blink, we can see the Blink function. Kerwin said that it controlled 3 LED ON and Off directly. Could you check as follows : 1. Whether Green / White / Orange is available in the market 2. What is the concern when we control LEDs On and Off directly for Blick function. |
We discussed it with SKB. SKB accept to change ORANGE to YELLOW. Mr. Kerwin checked YELLOW color. It can be made R + G combination. But it should be check blink function. It should not be affected by the CPU Load. Please let me know your recommendation. 1. Change Parts to White/Green/Orange(or Yellow) combination 2. Keep current part and you can control blink at heavy CPU Load. |
We will check whether supplier has standard LED component which support White/Green/Yellow color. I will have our RD to survey the component in parallel. |
Hi Jacky, For LED test application, please support following requirements for our test. 1) Provide apk which can be installed to STB. 2) Desired features - Possible to set operating method (Using timer and CPU direct control) - Possible to set desired color (White and Yellow) - Keep blinking in the background during application operating Thanks |
Hi Jacky, I am testing new SW provided today. Which way is this SW using to operate blinking among the timer or CPU direct control? |
Hi Dixon, Please provide how to use TVS app and commands we used to test. |
Hi Dixon and Jacky, We would like to know about your implementation. I think we have 2 ways to implement blink function. 1. LED control by timer - I think CPU is not involved to work in this case. 2. LED control by CPU - I think CPU is involved directly. It may affected CPU Load. Please let me know your way to control LED in test SW. One more think, the LED color is RED when STB start to boot and change to Green. So RED is not use in new Scenario. If it controled in Bootloader, then it should be changed. |
We use kernel driver to control LED and the timer function is natively supported by OS. The timing very precise because it is also used for OS process/thread scheduling and wouldn't affect CPU loading. |
I have tried to control it in the Bootloader, but it will still light RED. Hi Sean, Please help to confirm if it is a hardware limitation Thanks. |
HI Dixon Chen, Could you let me know how long does it take to control LED by bootloader ? I will check with SKB on LED Status from Power on to when Bootloader can control LED color and status. I think you cannot control LED by SW. So at first when we turn on the STB, we cannot blink LED on white. Am I correct ? So I will ask SKB to choose during that time LED is OFF or White ON. |
Hi SY Yoon, About 5 seconds after power on can control LED in bootloader. Yes, we cannot control LED to blink on white when we power on the STB. |
Hi Sean, Jim, Please help to comment it from HW point of view. |
Hi Jim, Please confirm the circuitry design of LED if SKB choose LED OFF or White ON during power on stage |
We discussed with SKB. SKB asked was as follows. 1. Booting time is devided 3 parts Loading bootloader - white ON Bootloader can control LED(Loading Application and run application) - white blink Application Run - M/W can control. 2. SKB will fix Yellow to RED. SKB will decide to Green clolor to RED in this week. l think that we can handle it by SW. |
I attached new Scenario of LED. SKB wants to change Yellow to RED on Network Abnormal status. I attached scenario document v0.3 below. |
Is this final scenario ? We think network Abnormal status should be controlled by M/W and could you inform TVS to modify it ? |
Hi SY, please confirm the scenario as the below within today or it will impact our development schedule. HW booting : while ON From SW booting : follow your attached file (LED_Button_Scenario_03.pptx) |
Yes. I confirm. At first, it light white color LED ON from power on to bootloader start. After start bootloader, LED light should blink with White color. |
Hi Mr. Yoon, We can't do blink in bootloader because it doesn't support multi-thread/multi process, eg. it's not OS. So we would keep white color during bootloader and take around 5 seconds. After loading and starting kernel, LED would be blinking with white color as our expectation. Please be aware of it. |
We checked white and green color and blink action. But we cannot check it red color. Could you check it work on red color blink function ?, |
I checked RED LED Blink function with SW V15.502.7 today. So I closed it. |
